WC McFarland peacefully completed his earthly assignment on August 3, 2024. Whether you called him WC or "Dub", you could depend on him answering if you needed help. WC was a "family first" kind of guy. We all have memories of his beautiful soul and giving heart. Whether having long talks with his daughter about sports or giving an encouraging word, he showed love. Whether watching the sunset with his oldest sister, or mowing the lawn for his youngest sister, he showed his family love. Whether hanging out and sharing wisdom with his younger brothers or repairing vehicles for "ALL" of his siblings, WC showed us love.
WC was a licensed mechanic and was born to fix things! All he needed was a screwdriver. WC was gentle and kind. He was smart and wise; he had a great sense of humor and valued people. WC was a son, a father, a partner, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend that made life sweeter. WC was a "GOOD" man and an even "GREATER" brother.
WC McFarland was born to the late John T. McFarland Sr. and the late Carrie Thomas Brown on May 27,1950 in Winnfield, LA where he accepted Christ and was baptized in the creek at an early age. WC grew up in Winnfield and attended Pine Crest school until the 8th grade. The family relocated to Houston, Texas in 1964, where he attended George Washington Carver High School until 1965. Due to segregation, WC would later attend and graduate from Klein High School in Houston, TX. In 1982, he married Carylon Brown and to this union, his only child, a beautiful baby girl would be gifted unto them. Eventually, WC returned to his roots in Winnfield, LA where he would live until his departure.
On August 3, 2024, he departed this life and returned to his forever home.
His legacy is carried on by his daughter, Shawnee McFarland, and grandson, Jeremiah Evans, Memphis, TN, five sisters, Johnnie McFarland Batties, Houston, TX, LaWanda King (Karl), Winnfield, LA, Ethel McFarland, Winnfield, LA, Gloria McFarland Sharp (Deon), Aubrey, TX, Yolanda McFarland, Midlothian, TX, four brothers, Stanley Smith, Las Vegas, NV, Micheal McFarland, Arlington, TX, John McFarland (Katrina) Winnfield, LA, Eric McFarland (Shantell) Winnfield, LA and a life partner, Annette Roberson, Winnfield, LA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
