Obituary
The family unit undergirded by the late Rev. and Mrs. Dennis (Ina) Cornwell was blessed March 15, 1947, in Natchitoches, LA with the birth of an energetic baby boy who they gave the name of Thomas James. God, in His infinite wisdom, called him from earthly toil to celestial eternity on January 31, 2025, while a resident in the Natchitoches Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Creator of all uttered the call of "Well Done.
This unforgettable young man was reared in a home where Christian precepts were taught and lived. This led him early on acknowledging Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, becoming baptized, saved and sanctified under the spiritual leadership of the late Rev. John Feltus at the Prather Street Church of God in Christ
Education was emphasized by his parents, and he pursued formal training in the Natchitoches Parish School System and became a graduate of Central High School in the Class of 1965.
He utilized his God-given talent in Music to become self-employed as a professional singer and musician who was widely known for his captivating performances. He will be missed!
He became the loving father of two children, Rico Revels of Natchitoches, LA and Akiba V. Cornwell of Los Angeles, CA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Dennis (Ina Edwards), his daughter, Akiba Cornwell, his sisters, Sarah Jean Cornwell, Sharon Cornwell and Joyce Sowell Johnson.
His illuminating light will live on in the hearts and minds of those who survive him including his one child, Rico Revels of Natchitoches, LA, siblings: Rev. Dennis Cornwell, Jr. (Maxine) of Shreveport, LA, Charles Edward Cornwell of Houston, TX, Gloria Cornwell Freeman of Campti, LA, Delores Cornwell Berguin of Natchitoches, LA and Earl Cornwell (Shiela) of Natchez, MS, his last uncle, James Milton Cornwell of Grambling, LA along with a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and fans.
T. C., as he was professionally known, will be remembered for his being the Front Street/Historic District singer and for playing the guitar, the harmonica and the piano.
A memorial service will be held February 15, 2025 at 2pm in the Chapel at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home, 318 North St., Natchitoches, La 71457.
