A soft-spoken and peaceful spirit characterized our beloved Mrs. Sarah Ann Toussaint Turner who transitioned from earth to a higher plane October 3, 2012 at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. Known for her unwavering devotion to duties as a wife, mother and grandmother, she was born June 1, 1941 in Natchitoches Parish to the parentage of the late Mr. Mack Tousaint, Sr. and Mrs. Luberda Walker Tousaint.
Mrs. Turner was a student in the Natchitoches Parish Public School System during the formative years; however, she relocated to the Los Angeles, California Metroplex Area where she graduated from Fremont High School in 1961.
This beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, relative, neighbor and friend sought a spiritual refuge in Christianity; henceforth, she was converted, baptized and became a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Bermuda under the pastorage of the late Rev. P. M. Gillie.
She was married to the late Mr. Odrie Turner who predeceased her by only a few weeks and that union was blessed with three sons, Randy Turner, Derick Turner and Reginald Turner.
Her husband of 50 years could consistently count on her loyalty and backing in every endeavor. They were the proprietors of business entities in the state of California and in their home state of Louisiana. The Turners were widely known for their "people-friendly" neighborhood grocery store operation in the Bailey Heights area of Natchitoches community.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Tousaint, Sr.; her husband, Mr. Odrie Lee Turner and two brothers, L. B. Johnson and Simon Tousaint.
Those who will forever hold her memory dear are her three sons all of Natchitoches, Randy (Shelby), Derick (Terral) and Reginald (Margaretta);
eight sisters, Ethel Sawyer of Los Angeles, CA, Effie Mitchell (Paul) of Los Angeles, CA, Pearlie B. Jones of Los Angeles, CA, Audrey Tousaint of Texas and from Natchitoches, LA Pearl Tousaint, Joyce Tousaint, Annie Petite and Delores Osborn;
