Obituary

Mrs. LaCaze's life and legacy will be celebrated Saturday, January 15, 2021, 11:00 a. m. in the Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 318 North Street, Natchitoches, LA 71457.  The casketed remains will be viewed by the public from 10:00 a. m. to service time.  Interment will follow in the Jackson Square Cemetery.

NOTE:  ALL ATTENDEES MUST WEAR PROTECTIVE FACIAL MASKS/COVERINGS AND OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING AT THESE SERVICES.

Sarah Elizabeth Redden was born to Rev. Adolphus Redden and Mary Williams Redden Friday, May 15, 1936.  She joined the church at an early age.  She was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church and later united with Asbury United Methodist Church.

She was a proud graduate of Central High School.  She earned the following:  Bachelor of Science Degree from Grambling College in 1962; Masters of Education from Northwestern State College in 1968; and a Master's Degree plus 30 Graduate Hours in 1976.

Sarah was a Master Teacher who was beloved by her students.  She taught at North Natchitoches Elementary School, the Junior High Center and the Northwestern Lab School.

She was a proud member of the Natchitoches Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., W. L. Carroll Chapter No. 4, Order of Eastern Star, PHA in Natchitoches, Louisiana for thirty years; worked in the Office of Elections, the Census Bureau and as a consultant to the late Representative Jimmy Long.  She was active in her community by tutoring students and writing letters on behalf of incarcerated individuals.  Sarah was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church Choir.  She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  She was a member of the renowned Gospelrettes singing group and a received a Legends Award from the Agape Love Center.

Sarah was a loving mother and was affectionately known as "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by Booker Thomas Rollins and Christie Anita Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Edlena Faye (Terry) Gordon, James (Pearl) Rollens, III, and Sandra (Terrence) Robinson; cousins, Elcener Dale Williams Helaire and Clarence W. Travers; nieces, nephews, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
