Homegoing Services for Mrs. Lewis will go forth at the North Star Baptist Church in Powhatan Saturday, September 2, 2023, 10:00 a. m.  The casketed remains will lie in state at the church on that day from 9:00 a. m until service time.  Burial will follow in Lawrence Serenity Sanctum.

Sadie Marie Lewis was born July 16, 1957, to the late Jodie B. and Mary Jane Conley. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Law and Gregory Hymes; one sister, Deloris Green.

Sadie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. P. M. Gillie. She later joined the Goodwill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gerald Gant, Sr. Upon her death she was a member of the North Star Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Bishop William Roberson. Sadie loved her church and was a dedicated member until her death.

In 1977, Sadie met the love of her life, Terry W. Lewis. They were married on March 24, 1979. To this union one child was born, LaShonda Michelle. Anyone that knew her, knew she loved her husband, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and siblings. Regardless of the circumstances, she always strived to be a pillar of support for them and the rest of her family.

Sadie dedicated herself to her work at the Natchitoches Manor Nursing Home and later at the Natchitoches Parish Hospital, until her health began to decline in 2000. Despite her own health challenges, she consistently prioritized the well-being of those around her. Her giving nature was unwavering, extending her assistance to anyone without hesitation. Her memory lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her remarkable gift of seeing the best in everyone she met left an enduring impression on all who had the privilege to know her. She possessed a truly generous nature, marked by selflessness.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 44 years, Terry W. Lewis; one daughter, LaShonda Burton (John); two grandchildren, John Burton, Jr & Jairen Burton; three brothers, Ray Charles Hymes, Johnny Conley, & Kenneth Conley (Barbara); four sisters, Ida Hymes-Brooks, Katherine Conley, Annie Conley, & Crittie Conley; sister-in-law, Abigail Lewis; four brothers-in-law, Barney Lewis (Kim), Joe Lewis, Jr. (Dinah), Danny Lewis, & Dexter Lewis; one Godchild, Raychel Wilson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
