OBITUARY OF SISTER ROSIE LEE HILL

God's plan included the birth of our beloved Sister Rosa Lee Hill November 29, 1935 in the Powhatan Community of Natchitoches Parish.  She was a gift to her parents, the late Rev. Edward Hill and Mrs. Irene Johnson Hill.  God's plan again was made manifest on December 21, 2023 when He gently transported her from time to eternity with loving family at her bedside in the home of her son, Barry. The Master of the Universe said, "Well done"!

Sister Hill's Christian walk began with praying fervently for conversion to Christianity, publicly confessing Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, being water baptized and uniting with the Bethel Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. David Pye.  As she physically relocated and grew spiritually, she became a member of the fellowship at the First Baptist Church on North Street.  There she served on the Usher Board and a member of the Senior Choir faithfully until her final days when her health began to decline.  Even then her thoughts and concern remained with God's church.  She was a believer!

Honesty and forthrightness were characteristics for which Sister Hill will long be remembered.  Her conviction in her beliefs was strong and deep rooted and they were evident in her daily living; however, she administered her straight forth communication with a spirit of love and concern.

Sister Hill was employed by NAAA for many years and served with distinction in various positions.

This unforgettable citizen was active in her community and was dutiful in the Natchitoches Parish Voters & Civic League, Inc. and the W. L. Carroll OES #4 where she was a Past Worthy Matron.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her son, Donald Ray Hill, her granddaughter, Kim, one who was reared as her sister, Lena Mae Davis and a nephew, Bennett.

Her dear memory will be cherished by her surviving family including a daughter, LaVerne Hill and a son, Barry Hill (Sylvia) both of Natchitoches, LA; eight grandchildren:  Adrian, Jonathan, Kendrick, Jamaal, Denardo, Stephanie, Barry, Jr., and Oriana; twenty great grandchildren; her nephew and niece, Lester Garner and his wife, Lola, of Provencal, LA and Betty Powell of Gary, Indiana; a bonus son, Chris Paige and his wife, Mary, of Natchitoches, LA, First Baptist Church North Street family along with a host of many other relatives and friends.
