The WINNIFIELD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME invites you to pray for this dear family as they celebrate the life and legacy of their loved one Saturday, October 25, 2025, 1:00 p. m. at the Abundant Life Church, 620 Ben Drive, Natchitoches, LA 71457 with Pastor Steven Harris, Sr. officiating. The casketed remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from High Noon until the start of the religious service. Interment will follow in Lawrence Serenity Sanctum. She will be greatly missed!
Our Heavenly Father made a gift of a beautiful baby girl to the late Sister Dorothy Lee Scott and the late Brother John
Henry Curry on December 20, 1949 in Natchitoches, La., they named her Rosalyn Rammona Scott. The late Brother
Edward Powell Sr. was a bonus father who reared her to adulthood along with her mother. God, in His infinite wisdom
called her from her earthly labour to divine reward on October 14, 2025 while she was in the care of medical
professionals at Christus Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, La. The Lord pronounced that her work down here
had come to an end.
Realizing there was life beyond the grave she prayed for conversion to Christianity, was baptized and United with the
First Baptist Church on Amulet Street under the spiritual leadership of the late H.B. Barnum. During her development
she was led to become a member of Abuntant Life International Ministry under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Steven
Harris and First Lady Twanna Harris. There, she remained faithful until she received the ultimate call from God, Our
Father.
Sis. Rosalyn was a very well-known person in the community and often tried to sponsor and help with activities that
were of a character building nature especially for the benefit of the children.
Sister Rosalyn counseled them and nurtured them into a positive mindset by giving them the confidence, logic and love
they needed in that moment. During holidays she often opened her kitchen to anyone that hungered and was recognized
by the City of Natchitoches for her brilliant yard display that she accredited as giving Christmas to those less fortunate
than herself.
She will long be remembered for her benevolent work in carrying a special Christmas tribute for the young ones in the
Bailey Heights neighborhood. She had great ideas and carried them out until her goal of helping others was achieved!
Sister Rosalyn's employment resume' culminated with nearly 2 decades of being a Dental Assistant with the late Dr.
Wimberly in Campti, La. She assisted with serving hundreds of patients with her kind and compassionate manner.
While also lighting the path where other African American women would be noticed in the forefront of
Other professional businesses. She also worked in many homes as a cook and a help mate. She also served as a midwife in the Campti Community.
Sister Rosalyn loved to cooking, fishing, building things and playing cards with family and friends, her affectionate
laughter could be heard in the distance.
Preceding in death were her parents, Dorothy Lee Scott and John Henry Curry as well as her bonus father Edward
Powell Sr.; her second husband William Roque, her children including (4) stillborns, a son Raveon Rishod Waldrup
(Shetoka), (1) grandson Alex Matson, a bonus daughter Nyesha Farley Hart; siblings: (4) brothers Edward Powell Jr.,
Edgar Scott, Donald Curry, and Arnold Curry, (2) sisters Carolyn Ficklin Davis and Janice Scott Bradley, a special aunt
Margie Mae Holland, and a host of aunts and uncles.
Her beautiful light will live on in the hearts and minds of those who survive her including her husband, Alex Waldrup of
Natchitoches, La.; (4) daughters Trichel Scott, Terace Waldrup, Latershish Waldrup( Louis), Norma Waldrup all of
Natchitoches, La. (1) son Alexis Waldrup (Keisha) of Dallas, Tx.; siblings(5) sisters Marjorie Braggs of Pineville, La.,
Cheryl Gray of Natchitoches, La., Lora Curry of Natchitoches, La., Glenda Frazier(James)of Pineville, La., Gaylon
White of Kleen, Tx.; (1) brother; Elder Eddie Ray White Sr. (Enid)of Carlsbad, New Mexico; (1) sister -n- law Lessie
Mae Waldrup of Campti, La., (28) grandchildren, (35) great grandchildren, (1) Godchild Sharon Jefferson (L.J.) of
Natchitoches, La.; she was affectionately known loved and cherished each of her nieces and nephews with a special
oneness with her nieces Angela Scott and Tonya Bradley as well as a bonus daughter Shernise Pye , a host of nieces,
nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews and host of family and friends.
