Obituary

We invite you to join us in sincere prayer for this great family as they celebrate the life and legacy of their unforgettable loved one.

Services will include:

A wake on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Winnfield Funeral Home Chapel, 117 MLK Dr., Winnfield, LA 71483.

A Service of Celebration Saturday, February 8, 2025 11:00 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, 306 MLK Dr., Winnfield, LA 71483.

A public visitation at 9:00 a.m. until start of services.

Burial will follow immediately after at the Winnfield Cemetery.

A TIME TO BE BORN
Rosa was born December 24, 1946 to the late Laster and Josephine McCarty in Sikes, LA. She was the third child of this union. They nicknamed her "Punkin". . She was given the distinction of being named after both her maternal and paternal grandparents.
A TIME TO WORSHIP
Rosa united with the Lone Star Baptist Church at an early age. After moving to Winnfield, she united with the Morning Star Baptist Church. During her years of service she was involved in various ministries: senior choir, church secretary, Sunday school teacher, womens mission, vacation bible school (director & teacher) and other ministries as needed.
A TIME TO EDUCATE
Rosa graduated from Pinecrest High School in 1964 and went on to earn both a BS Degree and an MED from Grambling State University. She began her teaching career in the Madison Parish School System, where she met and married the late Frank Williams. Rosa later taught in the Winn Parish School System, where she continued to work until her retirement.
A TIME TO SERVE
Rosa's community service was extensive and impactful. She served as president of the Mariah H. Lewis Chapter of Grambling Alumni, former Worthy Matron of Bathsheba Chapter #91 OES, and Past Recording Secretary for High Degree, as well as Grand Recorder Secretary for the Star of Hope Grand Chapter (State of Louisiana). Rosa was also involved with the Girl Scouts, and served as both President and Vice President of the Winn Parish Voters League. She was active in the Retired Teachers Association, the New Hope Association, and worked as Director and Teacher of the H.Y. Bell Tutorial Program. Rosa had a passion for working with children, helping them excel, and sharing her talent for speaking with various organizations and communities.
A TIME TO MOURN
Treasured memories will be held by the McCarty, Williams, and Graham families: Son, Detrick Lamar Williams; one brother, John McCarty (Janie), Quitman, LA; two sisters, Juanita Dandridge, Donaldsonville, LA and Joyce Robinson, Shreveport, LA; Goddaughter, Kahlial Scroggins; nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends and relatives.
