Loved by many: Celebration of Life for Pamela Revels Johnikin
Pamela Revels Johnikin was a resident of Powhatan, Louisiana. She died January 15, 2022 at 8:40 p. m. arising from a series of chronic medical conditions. She was 68 years of age.
Pamela, or Pam as she was known, was born April 8, 1954 in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and raised during her youth there. She graduated from Allen High School. She attended both Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and Dillard University in New Orleans.
She was married to James Johnikin for over 15 years. She was an avid Mardi Gras costume designer and enjoyed marching with the Wild Tchoupitoulas every year to celebrate Mardi Gras. She traveled frequently to Houston, Texas for family. She is survived by her birth daughter, Ira Revels and her brother, Hardrick Rivers, along with a host of cousins and family members. She is preceded in death by her birth mother, Melba Rivers, her adopted mother, Eloise Odums Revels, and her adopted father, Ira Revels.
During her 35 year career as an Executive Assistant for New Orleans celebrity Chef Paul Prudhomme, Fort Saint Jean Baptiste, and accountant for the 5-star Restaurant Commander's Palace, she brought joy and laughter to many.
A Jazz Memorial will be held at 2:30 p. m., Saturday, January 22, 2022, starting at the Revels Farm, 247 Alexandria Street, Natchitoches, LA. Family and friends will walk her remains to the family graveside located at the Powhatan Cemetery at Smith Island Road. Beginning at 4:00 p. m., a repast will be held in the Natchitoches Room in Russell Hall at Northwestern State University (it is the first building on the left through the main gate, 2nd Floor/anyone having questions may call Ira at 860-804-0668) with music and a Mardi Gras theme to celebrate her life. Friends and family are invited to share their happy memories of her.
