On the morning of September 21, 2013 God called one of His angels home, Oscar Ray Coney Jr. from labor to reward. He was born June 26, 1942 to the late Oscar Ray Coney Sr. and Patsy Coney in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was the second of two children. His only sibling (Willie Johnson Jr.) preceded him in death.
He was baptized in 1975 and was ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal Church Ministry in 1994. He served as pastor to the Washington Chapel A.M.E Church in Many, Louisiana for over 17 years.
Oscar was a loving father, husband, and Man of God. He dedicated his life to providing service, guidance, support and undeniable wisdom to his family and friends. Oscar never complained about hard times, but instead instilled in his family to use these times to become stronger and unified.
Oscar leaves to cherish his memory a wife of 50 years, Barbara Jean Coney, one daughter, Carolyn Ann Coney of Natchitoches, Louisiana; two sons, Oscar Ray Coney III (Janice) of Zachary, Louisiana and Kelvin Wayne Coney (Felica) of Auburn, Maine; one granddaughter, Christina Monique Coney of Natchitoches Louisiana, six grandsons, Oscar Ray Coney IV of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Christopher Lee Coney and Kelvin Michael Coney of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Jahvon Omar Coney and Jaelen Amir Coney of Auburn, Maine, and Jackori Tariq Coney of Zachary, Louisiana.
Oscar will forever live in the hearts of those family and friends that he left behind.
