Obituary

Funeral Services will be celebrated Saturday, February 22, 2014, 10:30 a. m., Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 318 North St., Natchitoches, LA 71457. The remains will lie in state for public visitation at the funeral home from 8:00 a. m. to service time on Saturday. Burial will follow in the St. Savior Baptist Church (Cane River) Cemetery.

Nancy Lee Beck was born September 22, 1921 to the late Gus and Hattie Lucas Parson in Natchitoches, Louisiana as the fourth of twelve children. She was reared and attended public schools in Natchitoches Parish. She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Saint Savior Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John Gaines. She continued as a faithful member, later uniting with the Light House Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earnest Green. She remained a faithful and dedicated servant until moving to Houston, TX. Following her move to Houston, she remained in contact with the Light House Missionary Baptist Church family. Rev. Green continued telephone contact with her until her demise.
Nancy held various jobs. A widow at an early age, Nancy's most important job was taking care of her children.
Nancy was affectionately called "Madear", "Aunt", "Granny," and "Mama" to so many. Many knew her as the "Lady on the front porch" on Martin Luther King Boulevard. She loved her community of family and friends.
On Friday, February 14, 2014, Nancy departed this life at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX. She leaves to cherish precious memories, two daughters, Maryam Ali and husband Jamal, Broken Arrow, OK; Carolyn Sue Mitchell and husband Herbert of Houston, TX; two sons: Issac Beck, Jr. and wife, Linda, Las Vegas, NV; Lee Arthur Parson and Significant Other Helenia, Houston, Seven Grandchildren; Dewayne Beck and wife, Susan, Fairhaven, MA; Krystal McFarland and husband, Vernon, Romulus, MI; Issac Beck, III and Michael Beck, Romulus, MI; Jamal Ali, II, Broken Arrow, OK; Carly Mitchell and husband, Chevis, Houston, TX; Chelsea Mitchell, Houston, TX; Eleven Grant Grandchildren: Dominique Beck, Drew Beck, Najai Beck, Heavyn McFarland, London Beck, Derrec Ali, Jazmen Ali, Yaunika Ali, Anayah Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, and Braylon Mitchell; one great, great grandchild: Dasani Beck; one sister, Hattie Pantallion, Ypsilanti, MI; many devoted and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter and best friend, Eunice (Minnie Pearl); siblings:
Sisters: Zettie B. and Essie Mae; Brothers: Louis, Lee Arthur, Gus Jr., Otis, Fred Mike, Ebbie, Sr. and Henry D.
