A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Merlene "Moma" Triplett will be held on October 31, 2025 at 11am Mt. Olive Baptist Church 303 Brown St. Winnfield, La 71483. A public viewing will be at 9am until the time of service. Pastor G. Tomell Hamms will be officiating. A burial will take place in the Winnfield Cemetery.
The Life and Love of Sister Murlene
"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." Proverbs 31:28-29
Sister Murlene S. Harris-Triplett was born on February 5, 1939, in Many, Louisiana, to the union of the late Otis Scott and Annie Mae Williams.
Throughout her life, Sister Murlene exemplified love, faith, and devotion. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Tolbert Triplett, Jr., and together they shared 63 blessed years of marriage.Their union was a testament of commitment, endurance, and true companionship.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tolbert Triplett, Jr.; four sons, Michael Harris, Marshall Harris, Darren Harris, and Tolbert Triplett III; one daughter, Linda Shepherd; and two grandsons, Tarrence Sentell Triplett and Kristian Brown.
Sister Murlene accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She served Him faithfully as a devoted member of Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of her beloved pastor, Reverend James G. Leonard. Her faith was unwavering, and her warm spirit touched everyone who crossed her path. She was known for her words of affection, often saying, "I love you the most."
On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Sister Murlene peacefully departed this life at the Winn Parish Medical Center.
Her life and legacy will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who remain: two sons, Kevin Harris and Tarrence Triplett, Sr.; three daughters, Kim Triplett, Rosalind Brown, and Lakena Shepherd; one sister, Marva Holden; twenty-seven grandchildren; sixty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Though her physical presence will be missed, her love, laughter, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
