Ms. Mary
Armstrong
September 30, 1929 – April 23, 2026
She was born to her parents, the late Mr. Frederick Frazier and Mrs. Sadie Colombus, on October 16, 1929, in Natchez, Louisiana. As the fourth of five siblings, she represented the blessed fruit of their union.
When Sister Armstrong was 11, she became concerned about her spiritual well-being. She prayed sincerely for guidance, publicly affirmed her Christian faith by declaring Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized at Gaines Chapel Methodist Church by Pastor Washington. In 1956, she helped establish Rock Island Baptist Church with Pastor F. G. McHenry. Her commitment to the church was steadfast—she actively participated in the Choir and Gospel Groups until health issues arose, after which she continued attending online services with unwavering devotion. She completed her education through the Natchitoches Parish School System, obtaining her GED. Additionally, she demonstrated remarkable creativity in flower arrangement, gospel singing, poetry writing, and playing the keyboard. She was also known for exceptional storytelling abilities and her talent for bringing joy and humor to others.
She worked as a Custodian at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, retiring after more than thirty-three years of dedicated service.
She was preceded by her spouse, James Armstrong; her parents, Mr. Frederick Frazier and Mrs. Sadie Columbus Williams; son, Huey James Frazier; sisters, Rose Bryant, Virginia Breda, Daisy Lee Bolton, and her brother, Jessie Columbus; her grandchildren, Torrie Queen Brown and Paul Landon McGee; her great-grandchildren, Diamond Smith and Kandra Randolph; as well as one great-great-grandchild, Serenity Randolph.
She will be remembered by her children: Mary Moses, Helen Westmoreland, Carolyn Gay (Barney), and Sandra Lane; her grandchildren: Steve, Terri (Dion), Gayle, Kevin (Cheryl), Van (Shandra), Paul, Raven, Ta’Cory, Rodney, Mckeychee (Micheal), Kauchshawa, Makeyba (Jason), Jayaka and Karmorta; 52 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She was a special aunt ("Mom") to Sadie (Earnest), Wilmer, Melva (Johnny), Ronald (Angela), and Leola. Additionally, she had special daughters from other mothers: Alice Hardison, Betty Smith Kirkendoll, Linda Thomas, and many more. She will also be missed by her dear friend, Mrs. Julia Brosette, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
