Obituary

Our beloved Edward Pattain, called “POT” was gifted to his parents, the late Mr. Edward Pattain, Sr. and Mother Rosa Lee Waldrup Pattain on May 13, 1948 in the Clear Lake Community of Natchitoches Parish. He was gently transported from earth to a higher place of praise April 4, 2026 while a patient in the Courtyard Nursing facility of Natchitoches, LA.

“POT” spiritual foundation was under the guiding hand of his grandmother, Laura Lee Lewis who fellowshipped with the St. Titus Baptist Church of Clear Lake, LA. As he grew spiritually, he became affiliated and heavily involved with Salvation Ministries Church of Campti, LA under the leadership of the late Dr. Randolph King, Jr.

Education was an important segment of life and he graduated from the Campti-Creston High School in Campti, LA.

Brother Pottain had a varied work resume. He was employed at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA, a skilled person in the building construction industry, railroad building and maintenance person and ultimately worked until retirement from Alliance Compressor.

This loving husband and father dedicated his life to working hard and making sacrifices to provide for his family.

Preceding him in death is his wife, the late Mrs. Jessie Smith Pottain, his son, Edward Charles Pottain, his daughter LaTonya Celia Pottain and his parents, the late Edward Pattain, Sr. and the late Mother Rosa Lee Waldrup Pattain; his sisters: Patricia Pattain, Lorriane Coutee and Pitheola Thompson; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Laura Lewis and his paternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Pattain.

He is survived by a host of loving family members who will forever cherish him including his son, Jerry Wayne Pottain (Veronica) of Campti, LA and daughter, Valerie Pottain of Campti, LA; siblings: Diane Pattain of Campti, LA, Mary Cook of Dallas, TX; Willie Pattain of Natchitoches, LA and Icy Pattain of Campti, LA along with a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
