Billy Ray Gafford, age 72, passed away on June 1, 2026, in Houston, Texas.

Billy was born on April 27, 1953, in Powhatan, Louisiana, to the late Leola Sowell and Elmore Gafford. He was a quiet, soft-spoken man whose kindness and gentle nature left a lasting impression on those around him.

He is survived by his son, Michael Gafford, Sr.; his grandson, Michael Gafford, Jr.; his life partner, Carol Gamble; her children, James Harris and Marlena “Tina” Harris; his brother Dennis Sowell and his sister, Lisa Sowell Easley. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Leola Sowell and Elmore Gafford, and his three brothers, Clint Gafford, Samuel Gafford, and Frank Gafford.

Billy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His presence, guidance, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Winnfield Funeral Home Chapel, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Lonnie Bradley.
