Funeral services are  scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2023, 11:00 a. m., Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Breda Town Cemetery.  The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral service.

Our beloved Michael Levi Westmoreland, Jr. was born June 7, 1978 in Independence, LA to the parentage of Michael Levi Westmoreland, Sr. and Brenda Thomas Westmoreland Henderson.  He was the first of two children which blessed this union.  Michael a/k/a "HANDLE THAT" departed this life September 30, 2023 in Natchitoches, LA.  His earthly journey was completed.

Realizing there was life after death, Michael confessed Christ as his personal Savior, was water baptized and united with the First Baptist Church on Amulet Street under the spiritual leadership of the late Rev. J. D. Dupree.

Michael received his education in the Natchitoches Parish Public School System where he was a very likeable student.  He participated in the sport of basketball when he was enrolled at Natchitoches Junior High School.

This memorable young man was employed by SODEXO Food Services at Northwestern State University for a period of time.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Levi Westmoreland and Ella D. Westmoreland and two sons:   Moses Westmoreland and Israel Westmoreland.

Those who survive him and will long treasure his memory are his parents, Michael Levi Westmoreland, Sr. of Natchitoches, LA and Brenda Thomas Westmoreland Henderson (Leroy) of Cloutierville, LA; :  Joslyn Westmoreland of Natchitoches, LA, Devoryn Smith of Dallas, TX, the mother of his children: LaToya Arms of Natchitoches, LA Heaven Westmoreland, Faith Westmoreland, Eden Westmoreland, King Westmoreland, Judah Westmoreland, Malachi Westmoreland; two sisters:  Michelle Sowell (Morris) of Dallas, TX and Tamesha Beasley of Douglasville, TX; two uncles, John Thomas of Amite, LA and Johnny Thomas (Lisa) of Decatur, GA; six aunts, Emma Jean Vaughn of Long Beach, CA, Shirley Marie Thomas of New Orleans, LA, Shirley Ann Thomas of Amite, LA, Emma Thomas LaCaze (Richard) of Natchitoches, LA, Samella Thomas of Amite, LA and Janice Domingue of Natchitoches, LA.
