Reflection of Life

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II. Timothy 4:7

Matthew Robinson, Jr. was born on May 11, 1949, to the late Matthew Robinson, Sr. and Eunice Rogers Robinson. He was one of ten children, raised in a large, close-knit family where love, faith, and togetherness were central to daily life. From an early age,

Matthew learned the importance of family, responsibility, and leading with values that shaped him throughout his life.

Matthew accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rock Island Baptist Church. He lived his faith through service to others, kindness, and a joyful spirit that never went unnoticed.

Matthew was known for his jovial, lighthearted nature and his infectious laugh that could brighten any room. He earned the affectionate nickname "Hut-Hut" while playing football at St. Matthews High School, where he distinguished himself as a standout quarterback. His leadership on the field, combined with his enthusiasm and charisma, left a lasting impression on teammates and friends, and the nickname followed him well beyond his school years, remaining with him for the rest of his life.

As the oldest son in the Robinson family, Matthew took great pride in being a leader among his siblings. He enjoyed guiding, supporting, and spending quality time with his family and loved ones, always stepping into his role with confidence, care, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Matthew dedicated more than 30 years of service as a licensed plumber with Rutledge Plumbing, retiring in 2018. He took tremendous pride in his work and was widely respected for his skill, reliability, and dedication to his trade. Countless customers specifically requested Matthew, trusting him to assist them in their time of need. One of his greatest joys was working daily alongside his brothers, strengthening both their family bonds and professional legacy.

Above all, Matthew was a devoted and loving father. He found his greatest happiness in spending time with his children and grandchildren, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. He leaves to cherish his memory his six beloved children: his sons, Lewis Robinson (Morgann) of Houston, Texas; Matthew Robinson, III (DeShawn) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Van Robinson (La'Shay) of Alexandria, Louisiana; and Christopher Robinson of Natchitoches, Louisiana; and his daughters, Tammy Robinson of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Cicely Robinson-Hickman of Alexandria, Louisiana.

In addition to his biological children, Matthew was a devoted bonus father who lovingly helped raise four additional children who held a special place in his heart. He shared a deep and meaningful bond with Sarah Rachal (Donald), Renita Gay (Joe), Trenell Law, and Stephanie Law, whom he loved and cherished as his own.

He is also survived by his loving siblings: Diane Robinson Payton; William Robinson, Sr. (Lynda); Bobbie Lewis Franklin (Gene); and Deborah Robinson, all of Natchitoches, Louisiana; Ronald Robinson (Belinda) of Slidell, Louisiana; and Larry Robinson (Elena) of Miami, Florida.

Matthew was preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Willie Robinson, Jackie Robinson, and Alfred Robinson, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Idella Clayton and Henry Clayton, and his paternal grandparents, William Robinson, Sr. and Harriet Robinson.

Matthew also leaves to cherish his memory ## grandchildren, ## great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever remember his laughter, generosity, and love.
