Life Celebration service will unfold at the Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 318 North Street, Natchitoches, LA 71457, Saturday, October 21, 2023, 2:00 p. m. with interment following in the St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery, Melrose, LA. The casketed remains will lie in state for public visitation prior to the service.
Exchanging time for eternity, Mary Ann Jackson was born January 7, 1944 in Bermuda, LA to the late Leon Johnson, Sr. ("MOOT") and Annie Mae Johnson. She was called home October 14, 2023.
Mary professed her faith and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with the St. Matthew Baptist Church in Bermuda, LA where she was a devoted member until her death.
Mary graduated from St. Matthew School in Melrose, LA. She was employed by Natchitoches Parish School Board for many years where she touched the lives of many.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Leon Johnson, Sr. and Annie Mae Johnson, granddaughter, Lillie Grace Walker, her first husband, Joe Walker, Jr., (BooTee), sisters: Dorothy Nora and Patricia Collins, and brother, Leon Johnson, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Anderson Jackson, Sr. of Natchitoches, LA and daughters: Teresa Johnson Roberson (Willie) of Bossier City, LA, Joan Walker of Alexandria, LA, Yolanda Bennett (Errick) of Ball, LA, Sheka Johnson (Mitch) of Bossier City, LA. Extended family: Sophia Carson (George) of Covington, GA, Felecia Grier (Robert) of Jonesboro, GA, Anderson Jackson, Jr. (Sugar) of Snellville, GA, Myra Jackson of Campti, LA; brother, Robert Johnson, Sr. of Natchitoches, LA; sister, Dolly A. Hertzog (Reginald) of Baton Rouge, LA, Linda M. Johnson of Natchitoches, LA, Shirley Heath (Charles) of Houston, TX and Betty Anderson of Houston, TX; eleven grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
