Obituary
Lester Garner (78), of Provencal, Louisiana, passed away on March 5th, 2024 at 6:30 PM, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Lester, fondly known as Sonny or Clean, was born on September 24, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Alvin Garner and Lena Mae Davis, both of Powhatan, Louisiana.
Lester joined First Baptist Church on Amulet Street at a very young age. He graduated from Central High School in 1965. He was employed at Natchitoches Parish Hospital (Orderly), the Army Ammunition Plant in Minden, LA. (Shell Room Operator), Natchitoches Parish School Board (Custodian), and spent his last 30 years of employment at Tennessee Gas Pipeline in Natchitoches (Machine Room Operator) before he retired.
Lester was united in marriage to Lola Marie Horn on February 15, 1969. He strongly valued education and hard work. He was a self-learner and an avid do-it-yourself person. He was quick to learn how to do anything he wanted to accomplish. In his spare time, he worked odd jobs such as doing body work on cars and various welding projects. Other times, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, farming, and ranching.
Lester leaves to treasure the memories of his life: his beloved wife, Lola, and their two daughters, Cassandra (Ron) Sparks of McMinnville, Oregon), and Lenore Garner (Provencal, Louisiana), his cherished sister, Betty Brown Powell (Gary, Indiana), his Aunt Eunice (Cleo) Garner Williams (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), along with a host of aunts, uncles, brothers-in-laws, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that he held dear.
