Leo Joseph
Walker, Sr.
December 3, 1943 – May 13, 2025
We remember with mixed emotions the transitioning of a great man, one who was a pillar of stability for his family and friends, one who was an astute academician graduating as Valedictorian for the Central High School Class of 1962 and becoming an esteemed graduate of Grambling State University. He utilized his academic background in Music Education to mentor, guide and inspire countless young people in the rudiments of music performance and in the realm of life values as well. The Creator touched him with a calling to spread the Gospel as the long-time Pastor of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and as a source of moral guidance to so many others along the highway of life. Rev. Walker was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, wonderful nephew, brother, uncle and cousin whose affection for his family was indisputable. To them he was the best man, a beautiful soul, a trained artist who was immersed in music of all genres and a hardworking and skilled craftsman in the construction industry. They knew better than anyone of his unparalleled patience, his loving heart, forgiving spirit and having the patience of Job.
This spokesman of God on earth can be envisioned in celestial garments beckoning to those he left behind quoting the words of the hymnologist: "O who will come and go with me? I am bound for the promised land".
The Homegoing Service of Rev. Leo Walker will come forth at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 391 St. Paul Church Rd, Natchitoches, LA, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 12:00 pm. PLEASE NOT THE CHANGE IN START TIME OF THE PUBLIC VISITATION: The treasured remains of Rev. Walker will lie in state from 10:00 am until the start of the service. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery. Join us in keeping this family covered in prayer.
