Family and friends fondly remember Sister Juanita Williams as a loving spirit who was willing to place
the needs of others above her own. Her life began on December 23, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana to
the parentage of the late George Arthur and Mary Carter. Her official name was mistakenly recorded as
Cobb, but she was known as Juanita Carter Williams or "Minnie". In the morning hours of what would be a
glorious spring-like day, her loving family discovered that the good Lord had called her home in her
sleep.
Juanita was a Child of God who accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal savior. She was baptized and
united with the First Baptist Church on Amulet Street in Natchitoches under the pastorage of the late
Rev. H. Brown Barnum. When she was an active member, she attended regularly and participated in the
choir in her youth.
Juanita was an accomplished woman who obtained a license in cosmetology after graduating in the
class of '73 from Natchitoches Central High School but it was her love for singing in the choir and
nurturing children that lead her to the Head Start Program where she remain for 43 years. She received
a CDA license and an associate degree in Early Childhood Education to be a teacher. Parents who sent
their children to Head Start saw her much she cared about their children and the efforts she made to
help them learn. Thus, she received many awards and accolades for teaching.
Preceding her in death where here parents, her godmother Mrs. Everlena Arthur, sisters Shirley Carter,
Gennie Carter, Dorothy Johnson, and brother Raymond Mitchell.
Those who survive her and will long cherish her memory are: her husband for over 40 years Herbert
Williams; her son Myron Williams; siblings Doris Green, James Mitchell, Joyce Arthur, Milton Arthur,
George Arthur; godchildren Alana Monette and Carust Scott; extended family.
