A celebration of Life for Mr. James "Sikeum" Roberson will be celebrated on March 9, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
James Roberson departed this life on February 28, 2013 at the V. A. Hospital in Pineville, La. He was born on December 13, 1927 to Evelyn Chester, Natchitoches, La. He was reared by the Reverend Thomas Manny Blake and Mrs. Marioh Blake (deceased) at 935 Amulet St. in Natchitoches, La.
He received his education at the Natchitoches Parish Training School and upon graduation, he signed up for the military in 1944 by joining the AAF during WWII. After being honorably discharged, he went to California and started working for Los Angeles County and Saint John Hospital faithfully until he retired in 1984.
He met Miss Virgie Raymond on his return to Natchitoches and they were married on August 5, 1961 and they remained married for over 51 years until he passed.
He confessed Christ as his Savior on February 23, 2013, before his passing into eternity on February 28, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Chester, 3 brothers, Frank Blake (Ester V. Blake), Romalard Chester, Larry Chester and 1 aunt, Mildred Williams, 1 uncle, J.C. Chester (uncle JC) 2 nephews, Marvin Blake, Wayne Blake and Frank Blake Jr (Bessie-wife). He leaves to mourn his wife, Virgie Roberson and 1 stepson, Perry Raymond and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
