Gloria C. Johnson graced the world with her presence on January 12, 1943. She was born to
the proud and loving parents, Lezzer Moody Carpenter and Eddie "Ben" Carpenter, Sr. of
Bermuda, Louisiana.

Gloria committed her life to the Lord at a young age. She was a member of St. Augustine
Baptist in Bermuda, Louisiana and later joined First Baptist Church on North Street. Throughout
her journey, she always kept her faith in God and remained steadfast in His word.
Gloria received her formal education at St. Matthew High School and was employed in the
hospitality field for over 30 years.

She united in marriage to James William Johnson on December 6, 1968. Gloria was the proud
mother of three children, all whom she loved collectively and individually. She was not only a
devoted wife and loving sister to her siblings, but also a mother figure to all who needed her
warmth and care. Her home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Fierce
in a modest way, she was our quiet warrior, standing firm in her love and dedication.
Her passions were sewing, crocheting, growing beautiful flowers, spending time with family and
affectionately caring for her pets as well as the neighborhood cats.
She had a unique ability to protect us from harm, guiding us with a soft yet assured hand. Her
laughter was a constant in our lives, and her humor, often sassy and delightfully funny, brought
joy to our hearts.

On August 24, 2024, Gloria peacefully departed this life. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Lezzer Moody Carpenter and Eddie "Ben" Carpenter, Sr.; her siblings, Vera Carpenter,
Eddie Carpenter, Jr., and Kent Carpenter.

Gloria is survived by her three children, Donald Ray Johnson, Sr., Katherine Johnson (Anthony)
and Kelita Nacole Johnson; three grandchildren, Donald Ray Johnson, Jr., Kaitlyn Elyse
Anderson, and Kristyn Kaye Anderson; two bonus grandchildren, Roman Johnson and Jamel
Johnson; four siblings, Murdies Howard (the late Henderson Howard, Sr.), James Henry
Carpenter (Barbara), Patricia Carpenter, and Bobby Ray Carpenter, Sr. (Andrea); and a host of
nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
