Funeral Services will be celebrated Saturday, August 11, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Baptist Church, Bermuda, LA with burial following in the church's cemetery. The family will receive friends at a wake service at the funeral home on the preceding Friday evening from 6 -9 p. m.
Mrs. Girline Vercher Jefferson was born to the parentage of the late Mr. John Vercher and Mrs. Mary Porter Vercher in Pineville, LA September 15, 1943. She was the eldest of this union which was blessed with twelve children. Through her parent's previous marital unions, she had five other siblings.
Mrs. Jefferson exchanged time for eternity during the early morning hours of August 7, 2012 at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Doris Vercher, and four brothers, Ellis Vercher, Herman Vercher, Lloyd Vercher, and Harry Vercher.
Being of a mind to live eternally, Mrs. Jefferson was converted as a Christian, baptized and became a member of the Bright Morning Star Baptist Church of Marco, Louisiana. Later, she united with the St. Paul Baptist Church of Bermuda, La.
She was employed as a member of the Maintenance Team at Westside Baptist Church for a number of years and was very effective in her chosen vocation.
Those who will forever cherish her dear memory are her husband of 46 years, Mr. L. J. Jefferson, Sr.; four children, Mr. L. J. Jefferson, Jr. (Sharon), Mrs. Reath A. Blake (Keith) both of Natchitoches, Mrs. Cynthia Williams (Farrel) of Vancleave, Mississippi, and Mr. Rodney Jefferson of Natchitoches; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four sisters, four brothers and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
