Services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. to service time on Saturday for public viewing. Burial will take place in Breda Town Cemetery.
Mr. Gerald Ray Mitchell was born September 10, 1960 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the parentage of the late Mr. Archie Nora and Mrs. Winnie Virginia Mitchell Robinson.
Gerald will be remembered as a pleasant and friendly young man who cherished his family and his circle of associates. He was a person who believed in being true to family and friends all of his life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He received his education from the teachers in the Natchitoches Parish Public School System.
Knowing that there was a life following this earthly journey; Gerald accepted Christ and acknowledged him as his personal savior at the age of 30.
His memory will live on with the members of his family including his son, Tyland Braden of Natchitoches, LA, his sister, Cynthia Pye of Natchitoches, La, and Tanesha and Amanda Foster;his grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Chism of Natchitoches, LA; five uncles: Earl Mitchell (Mary), Joseph Mitchell (Ruth), Leotis Mitchell, Alvin Mitchell all of Natchitoches, La and Christopher Mitchell of Leesville, La.; six aunts: Doris Jewitt, Dorothy Mitchell and Brenda Pugh of Natchitoches, LA, Earline Turner (P. J.) of Winnfield, LA, Frances Warren of Houston, TX., Ann Chism of Dallas, TX., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Special recognition is given to his dear cousin, Carolyn Mitchell, who brought him into her home during his final days where she could bring care and comfort to her relative.
