A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Felix "T-Fra" Monette, Jr. Friday, December 6, 2013, 10:00a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Cloutierville, La with a burial following in the church's cemetery. The family will receive friends for a wake service at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home on the preceding Thursday evening from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary scheduled for 7:00p.m.

Born to Felix Monette, Sr. and Felecia (Felecite) Coutee Monette, on February 14, 1930, T-Fra grew up along the banks of Little River, not far from Cloutierville. T-Fra loved visiting neighbors, listening as they told stories of times past and learning from them how his family came to live and settle in Louisiana. Although he was expected to work hard to help his father and brothers with the family farm, they also encouraged his free spirited nature. He was the favorite of his sister, Alberta, and it was through her that he met the love of his life, Cecile Rachal, whom he married in 1952. Their marriage was a fruitful one, lasting over 61 years.
Throughout his lifetime, T-Fra, by engaging all he met in simple conversation, educated hundreds, if not thousands, of people from far and wide, about his French Creole heritage. These lessons were given to a gambit of individuals, from small children to scholars, politicians and heads of major corporations, holding class in a manner unique to him; engaging a new friend, in simple conversation over a cup of coffee or a pop, with a joke or two thrown in en francais.
After eighty-three years on earth he went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2013. He was preceded in death my his beloved parents, siblings Isaac Davis Monette, Regis Monette and Alberta Monette Beaudion, along with, his son Joseph Monette. Those who remain to cherish him include his loving wife, Cecile; his daughters Judy Rachal of Derry, LA; Cathy Gustafson (Daniel), of Shreveport, LA; Jennifer Wallace (Haywood) of Orange Park, FL; Felecia Rachal (Merl) of Alexandria, La; and Rhonda Kay of Derry, LA.; nine grandchildren Christie Rachal, Jason Rachal (Carmen), Ashley Tucker (Evan), Victor Kay, Candice Rachal, Courtney Rachal, Chelsey Wallace, Amber Socia (Jonathan), and Erin Rachal; three great grandchildren, Tatum Kay, Drew Rachal, Aubree Tucker; brothers-in law Clarence Rachal and Henry Rachal (Doris), and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends for a wake service at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home, in Natchitoches, LA on Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary scheduled for 7:00p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in T-Fra's honor to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
