A compassionate and concerned soul transitioned from this life to a higher plane of existence Sunday evening, November 1, 2015 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Characterized by a happy disposition, he exhibited the qualities of a natural leader who was responsible to accomplishing the task at hand.
This well-regarded young man was a gift to his parents, Mr. Lutellis Smith and Mrs. Lula Duncan, when he entered time October 27, 1977 in Minden, Louisiana.

The God-fearing atmosphere in which Elton was reared led to his conversion to Christianity, a stance he publicly professed at the Growing Valley Baptist Church of Minden, LA during his youth under the pastorage of then pastor Rev. Lee Arthur Johnson. Following his relocation to Natchitoches, LA he worshipped at We Care Ministries under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Gus Johnson.
Education was a primary focus in his life and he earned the high school diploma at Doylene High School. He continued his pursuit of higher education during a tenure of study at Northwestern State University.

Elton will long be remembered for the committed and steadfast family man that he was at all times. He met and married the former Miss Sheila West of Natchitoches and became a loving husband to her and a providing father to their four children. His dedication to family was deep-rooted and evident in the giving of his time, his talent and his resources to his wife as well as his pride and joy—his three sons and one daughter.
This well respected young man was a career oriented individual. He was initially employed by Pilgrim's Pride of Natchitoches, LA and then enjoyed an enviable career with Alliance Compressors that spanned two decades, a firm where he had earned the title of Supervisor at the time of his demise.

Those who will forever cherish his dear memory are his devoted wife, Shiela Smith; three sons and one daughter: Kaunte Jabre West, Quentin Kevough West, Elton Lutellis Smith, Jr. and Katelyn Lanae Smith, all of Natchitoches, his mother, Lula Duncan of Haughton, LA, his father, Lutellis Smith and his wife, Melissa, who was a caring stepmother of Natchitoches, and a host of other relatives and friends.
