Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Ms. Deanna "Sunshine" Harris will be Saturday March 8, 2025 at 12noon at the New Willow Baptist Church 443 Redtown Rd. Leesville, La 71446. A burial will take place at the Leesville Memorial Cemetery Sawyer Road, Leesville, La 71446.

Deanna Renea Harris was born April 30, 1972, to Wilbert Rogers Sr.  & Roberta Wilson- Smith, the baby girl of eight. God dispatched His Angels to come and escort Deanna home. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Wendy Wilson- Roberts, and Uncle Willie D. Clemons

Growing up in a faith-filled family, Deanna confessed Christ at an early age. She united with New Willow Baptist Church and her last years still a member.

Deanna is a graduate of Leesville High School class of 1991.She pursued further her education at Grambling State University where she studied Criminal Justice.

Deanna was a woman of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family. She found joy in the simple moments, treasured her loved ones beyond measure, and brought light to every room she entered. Her spirit, love, and wisdom will forever be carried in the hearts of those who knew her. Deanna adored her family, especially her four girls. She was an exceptional mother and Nana, and there was nothing she would not do for them. And her nickname truly depicts who she was and her personality, because she truly was a ray of "Sunshine".  She always sought happiness and joy in her life.  She dedicated 21 years to her job as a Government contractor on Fort Polk/Johnson. Where she started out with her mother and spent 11 years with her daughter Brianna at the same job. Deanna loved to travel her main spot was Dallas Texas to visit her baby girl Nina. Her presence was a gift, and her loss is deeply felt by her family and friends.

She leaves behind a legacy of love reconciliation to her two daughters, Brianna Harris-Buckner (Clifford) and Renieca Jenerette. She also leaves behind two grandchildren whom she went beyond being just a grandmother, she also instilled that motherly love in Saroya Casandra Monae Morris and C'Moni Renea Buckner. Additionally, she is survived by seven siblings: Evelyn Wilson of Shreveport, LA; Ethel Harris of Leesville, LA; Patricia Walker of Atlanta, GA; Canday Harris of Leesville, LA; Alton Jackson of Texas; Wilbert Rogers Jr. of Lafayette, LA; & Michael Harris of Denver, CO.  She also leaves behind her best friend Stacy Jones of New Llano, LA, a very special Aunt Jacqueline Danzel of Shreveport, LA and Cynthia Cranson of Houston, TX and uncle Xavier Cranson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
