Obituary

Services Celebrating the Life and Love of Deacon Walter E. Crenshaw will be convened at the Shady Grove Baptist Church Saturday, January 10, 2015, 10:00 a. m. with burial following in the Shady Grove Community Cemetery. The remains will lie in state for public visitation at the church from 9:00 a. m. to service time.

Mr. Crenshaw was a Deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Obituary

Walter Embry Crenshaw, Jr. was the first child born to the late Walter Craig and Arlena Lockhart on June 28, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life Monday morning January 5, 2014 at 7:59am and woke up in the room he claimed in Glory. The Lord allowed him to walk, talk, love, and share with us for 73 years.

Walter accepted Christ at an early age and united with a Methodist church in Covington, TN. Later, after moving to Natchitoches he united with the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

He attended school in Covington, Tennessee and Houston, Texas. He also attended college at Prairie View A&M. Later, he joined the United States Army where he served four years.

On January 18, 1969, Walter married Earlee Lynch in Shady Grove at the home of Victor and Ada Rachal. To this union, one child was added.

Walter began his career as an Insurance Salesman with Mutual and United of Omaha. Years later he left there and went to work for Weyerhaeuser. He retired from Weyerhaeuser with over 20 years of service.

Preceding him in death were: his grandmother, Mattie Crenshaw; grandfather, Junie Crenshaw; father, Walter Embry Craig; and stepmother, Jessie Lee Craig.

To cherish his precious memories, Walter leaves his devoted wife of 45 years Earlee Lynch Crenshaw; one daughter, Ada Nakia Crenshaw of Plano, TX; mother, Arlena Lockhart, Six sisters: Judy Moore (Charles), Marilyn Cooley (Eddie), Cathy Buffkins (Roosevelt), Rita Hindmon (Marcus), Regina Chambers (Reginald), and Evora Lockhart Quarles all of St. Louis, Missouri. Five brothers: Jimmy Lockhart, Leon Lockhart (Pamela), and Michael Lockhart all of St. Louis, Missouri, Donald Lockhart (Pat) of Fresno, California and James, Jr of Chicago, Illinois.
