Obituary

Homegoing Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home Chapel (318 North St. Natchitoches, LA 71457). A public viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in the Choctaw Island Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarence, LA.

Dannie Ray Braxton was born on March 30, 1954 to the late Walter Dewitt Braxton "W.D." and Gaynell Louise Braden-Braxton. He was the second born to the union of five children. On the night of January 24, 2024 Dannie answered God call and transformed to his eternal home.

Dannie attended public schools in Clarence, LA.

Dannie worked for the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury from 1979-2013. He was blessed to retire after 33 years of faithful service. Upon retiring and in his spare time he worked for Calvin Braxton Ford and Calvin Jr. Autoplex transporting vehicles for his brother and nephew and was able to travel to many cities and states.

Dannie loved going to the casino, shopping especially at Sam's Club, landscaping, and hunting coons and squirrels.

Dannie is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dewitt Braxton, aunts and uncles:Betty Dixon, Myrdia Jones, Melvina Davis(Joe), Adell Crumble(Erskine), Thelma Rather (Lee),Frank Braden, Predo Braden(Ruby),Otis Braden, Joe Eddie Braden, John Henry Braden(Vernell).

Left to cherish is memories are his three siblings Calvin Braxton, Sr., Monica Braxton and Pamela Kent; two sister in laws Peggy Braxton and Beverly Braxton; six nieces and nephews Calvin Braxton, Jr. (Charmaine), Brandi Braxton, Le'Sheika Braxton, Megan Pereira(Ryan), Koren Kent and Kierra Kent; five great nieces and nephews Dillon Braxton, Skylar Braxton, London Braxton, Karter Braxton, and Olivia Pereira; one uncle Thurman Braden; three aunts Oscarene Braden, Shirley Braden and Nora Lee Braxton; he was also a father to a German Shepherd named Max A Million "Max"; special friends who treated him like family Mary Moses and Family and Billy Sue Johnson and Family; and a host of cousins and friends.
