The refreshing season of autumn marked the birth of our beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, schoolmate and friend, Corey Wayne Oliphant. He was a gift to his parents, Mr. Odell Oliphant and Mrs. Ivory Jean Oliphant, on October 7, 1970 and was the eldest of the three children that blessed this marital union. Surrounded by his loving family, Corey departed this earthly journey for a place of eternal rest at the family residence in Natchitoches, Louisiana on Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
Natchitoches Parish Public Schools was the setting for Corey's educational experience and was a member of the NCHS Class of 1989. He was well-known by his fellow classmates and remained in contact with a number of them throughout his adult life.
Having been raised in a home where Christianity was taught and practiced, Corey established a personal relationship with God, confessed it publicly, and was baptized during his youth at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Bermuda, LA.
His memory will be cherished by his parents; two sons, Deontay Hardy, Sr. and Jacobi Rachal, one daughter, Ariah Moore; his grandchildren, Auriah Wafer, She'quanta Hardy and Deontay Hardy, Jr.; one sister, Deidre Oliphant; and one brother, Nicholas Oliphant, as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and close friends.
