Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Greenville Baptist Church of Clarence, LA Saturday, February 13, 2016, 11:00 a. m. with burial following in the church's cemetery. The remains will lie in state for public visitation at the church from 10:00 a. m. to service time.
Clyde Anthony Sr., the ninth child of the late Robert Anthony Sr. and Elvira Sapp Anthony, was born on February 15, 1933.
Realizing the need for a spiritual Savior, Clyde was baptized at an early age. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at St. Mary Baptist Church in Melrose, LA under the leadership of the late Rev. A.M. Brown. Clyde departed this life for his eternal home on February 9th at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
Throughout his life, Clyde was known for his hunting, fishing, cattle corralling, and outdoor cooking skills. He was more recently known for his crawfish boiling expertise in the Natchitoches area. Clyde was a prominent provider for his family and was known for his outspoken personality. He was known to have a quick temper and stern look. You never had to question if he liked you or not. He was sure to let you know how he felt about you.
In 1969, Clyde met and married Irma Small. With this union, three children were born. Irma remained by his side until his death.
Clyde Anthony was preceded in death by his first wife, Gussie Marie Anthony, of twelve years which one child was born, Clyde Anthony Jr., and siblings: Emmitt Anthony, Robert Anthony, Atrice Anthony, Doretha Williams, Vernon Johnson, Earner Williams, Maxine Anthony, and Earline Helaire.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of forty-six years, Irma Anthony; five daughters: Stephanie Howard (Robert) of Dallas, TX, Pamela Alexander (Eldridge) of Dallas, TX, Evelyn Taylor of Oakdale, LA, Pamela Wilson of Shreveport, LA, and Linda Turner of Houston, TX; six sons: Clyde Anthony Jr. (Weda) of Campti, LA, Deonte' Anthony (Bianca) of Natchitoches, LA, Cedric Turner (Stephanie) of Winnfield, LA, Carroll Rachal of Natchez, LA, Floyd Rachal of Killeen, TX, and Ricky Cyiark of Oakdale, LA; one sister: Clara Norris of Houston, TX; a special nephew, Francis Lee Williams (Mary) of Houston, TX; four sisters-in-law: Carrie Anthony (late Robert Anthony) of Natchez, LA, Lessie Anthony and Patricia Morris (Albert) of Clarence, LA, Bessie Jones (John C.) of Winnfield, LA; two brothers-in-law: Ed Taylor (late Rosey Taylor) of Houston, TX and Henry Small of Natchitoches, LA; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
