OBITUARY
Clemon Demery, Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as "SONNY BOY", lived a fruitful and service-filled life to the benefit of his God, his family, his country and his ever growing circle of friends and neighbors. He was born December 20, 1933 in Natchitoches to the parentage of the late Mr. Clemon Demery, Sr. and Mrs. Piccola Peats Demery. God reclaimed him as his own January 4, 2022 while under the care of medical officers at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. The Lord said, "Well Done!"
His Christian journey included moral and fireside training in his home. It expanded to a public confession of Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and uniting with the Emmanuel Methodist Church in the Grand Ecore Community. As he grew spiritually, he was led to become a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Natchitoches. "Sonny Boy" was a baptized believer!
This gentleman of quiet resolve received his education in the Natchitoches Parish Public School System. He was a graduate in the Class of 1953 at the Central High School.
He entered the sacrament of Matrimony with the love of his life, Gertis Baker Demery, and remained her husband and soulmate until they were parted by his passing. This marriage bond was blessed with three children, Arnold Ray, Regina and Cherie.
Brother Demery was a man of an admirable work ethic. He was employed as a Brick Presser in the Acme Brick Company located in the shadow of his birthplace for many years. His career path led him to become a bus driver with the Natchitoches Parish School Board and a self-employed businessman in the area of small engine repair. He kept busy.
This progressive gentleman served his country with a tenure in the United States Army where he was a part of the Korean War. Upon completion of military duty, he was honorably discharged.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, Marie Demery, Clemontine Demery and Fannie Demery Allen.
Those who will cherish his memory are his wife of nearly sixty-two years, Gertis Baker Demery of Natchitoches, three children, Arnold Ray Demery, Regina Demery Warren (Fred) of Shreveport, LA and Cherie Demery Pikes of Natchitoches, LA; eight grandchildren: Dontez Demery, Shanetta Demery, Nakeeta McGee (Michael), Nigel Demery, Derrick Lindsey, Shalitha Evans, Joseph Harris (Sandra) and Reginald Nicholas (LaToya); seventeen great grandchildren along with a large number of other relatives and friends.
