Obituary

Carolyn Lavonne Brooks, 63, of Shady Grove, Louisiana, transitioned to her
heavenly home on January 14, 2024. She was born at Confederate Memorial
Hospital in Shreveport Louisiana to Nathaniel and Margaret Brooks on July
29, 1960. Carolyn graduated from Robeline High School. She later
graduated from Jackson Mississippi University and received certification as
a physical therapist. She was baptized at Mallard Hill COGIC in 1973. She
also attended Shady Grove Baptist Church and later became a member of
Abundant Life Church under Pastor Aill Harris Jr in Natchitoches, LA.
Carolyn loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed good
food, makeup, jewelry and entertaining at home. She loved having friends
and family around her. She always cared for her grandchildren and did not
allow her limited mobility to hinder her from experiencing a life filled with
laughter.
Carolyn was loved by her siblings Shirley Brooks Love, Randall Wayne
Brooks (deceased), Linnie Cynthia Brooks, Nathan Brooks, and Viola
Brooks Jackson.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters Demetria LaShun
Brooks (Lake Charles LA.), and Raneka Shenay Davenport Brooks
(Shreveport, LA) Son, Quentin Arnell Davenport Brooks (Natchitoches,
LA.). Eight grandchildren: Alivia Simone James Brooks, Holland Marquez
Thomas, Quentin Brooks Jr., De'Lasia Brooks Davenport, LaMaria Simon,
Daven-Lamar Simon, Kelvin Brooks Davenport, and Clydia Zirenti Brooks.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Touch of Grace, Heavens
Blessings, and Tiffany Lofton for their caregiver services. Special thanks to
Nathaniel Grayson, Ron Wolfe, Jove'a and J'Kobi Owens, Lessie West, and
Shevette Gay for showing up and being there when needed and called.
Thank you Cousin Marjorie and Vearslean for checking on her while she
was in the hospital in Shreveport on a daily basis and keeping us updated.
We would like to also thank those that were there in our time of need on a
daily basis whether you delivered food, visited, provided transportation, sat
and talked, or kept us in your prayers.
Celebration of Life will be held with immediate family at a later date.
Carolyn will be cremated and ashes will be spread at the St. Marks
Methodist Cemetery with her daughter Chaneka Simone Brooks.
