A Memorial Celebration will be held in the chapel of Winnfield Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday December 23, 2023 at 11am.

On September 3, 1953, Billy G. Moore was born to the late Rayford Moore and Christine
Salsberry Wilson Moore in Winnfield, Louisiana. He was the 4 th of five children. He attended
Pinecrest School in Winnfield, Louisiana until 1969 when Winn Parish integrated the school
system. Billy then graduated from Winnfield Senior High School in 1971. After high school, he
attended Louisiana Tech and then decided to join the workforce. On June 28, 1980, he joined in
union with Gardenia Husser Moore. In this union, 3 children were born. He enjoyed spending
time with his family, especially his 5 grandchildren.

Billy was a devoted husband, loving father, and fantastic grandfather. He was a dedicated
church member and hard worker. He was soft spoken yet commanded respect. Also, he was
known at Burks Temple for his no nonsense looks and his irresistible laughter. He loved playing
dominos and watching the New Orleans Saints anytime they played. He also loved watching his
children and grandchildren participate in many school activities.

At an early age, Billy began his spiritual walk with Christ at Burks Temple CME along with his
brothers. He found joy in reading the bible every morning and preparing for Sunday school just
as his father did. His relentless efforts in teaching the bible led Billy to participating in teaching
Sunday school during covid via phone or the church parking lot. As a member, he actively
served as an usher, mentor, and trainer of many future ushers until his death.

Billy worked at a local lumber mill with the City of Winnfield for many years before becoming a
correctional officer in 1990 at Winn Correctional Center. He worked in corrections for 25 years
and later as a jailer with the City of Winnfield Police Department until his retirement.

On the afternoon of December 8, 2023, Billy departed at the Winn Parish Medical Center. He is
preceded in death by his parents (Rayford and Cristine Moore), brothers (Howard, Raymond,
James, and Edgar Moore), and grandson (Daniel Moore Jr). He survived by his wife of 43 years, Gardenia Moore, their children: Jenitre' Moore of Jacksonville, FL; Rebecca Moore of Winnfield, LA; and Daniel Moore (Krystal) of Winnfield, LA; five grandchildren: Lauren Layton, Isaazk Moore, Randy Holmes Jr., Khylee Moore and Journee Moore, and a multitude of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who are going to greatly miss him.
